Tommy Palmer - Director of Student Ministries

Tommy attended church for a few years while as a kid but his family stopped going after awhile. Then the teenager years came. Getting to the     point where something had to give, Tommy decided to give church one last chance. Slowly but surely the Lord started to work in his life and called him to salvation during his sophomore year of high school. A call to ministry became evident in his senior year and Tommy was accepted to Boyce College. He graduated from Boyce in 2016 with a B.S. in Youth and Family Ministry. He is also working on his Masters at The Southern Baptist Theology Seminary. His primary goal for the ministry at Green Acres is to help people become more rooted in Christ. To put it another way, Tommy’s goal is to help others become more spiritually mature and be able to defend their faith in an increasing unbelieving world.

Reverend Daniel Powell - Pastor Emeritus

I professed my faith in Jesus Christ as my Savior and Lord as a freshman in high school in Dayton, Ohio, at the Airway Baptist Church in April of 1963. As a junior in high school I sensed God's call to become a pastor and I accepted that call at the Airway church in 1965. After high school I attended Georgetown College in Kentucky to gain a ministerial degree and a teaching certificate. I graduated in May of 1970. While in college I accepted the call of the Lawrenceville Baptist Church in Grant County Kentucky to be their pastor. I remained as pastor there until January of 1971. In August 1970 I accepted a teaching position at Pleasure Ridge Park High School in Jefferson County Kentucky. In March 1971, I accepted the call to serve as a bi-vocational pastor to the Vine Hill Baptist Church in Bullitt County. I remained there until June of 1979 when God led me to accept the call to be Senior Pastor of Green Acres Baptist Church in Louisville, Kentucky. After 30 years of service to Green Acres I retired from full-time ministry in December of 2009. In retirement during 2011 I served as Church Administrator for the Little Flock Baptist Church in Bullitt County. In April 2013 I became the Commonwealth of Kentucky State Coordinator with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association's My Hope America outreach ministry. In February of 2014 I accepted the call and invitation to return to Green Acres Baptist Church as Minister of Music and Worship Pastor. I retired, again, as Minister of Music and Worship at the end of 2017. God is so good all of the time! I praise Him for His presence and work in my life!
